Snow Day!!

Yep, we had a snow day today! The storm started around mid-day but we got the phone call that school was cancelled at 5:20 this morning!! I went into the store for a couple of things and by the time I came out there was an inch of snow on the ground...it wasn't doing anything when I went in!! So, needless to say when I got home I headed straight for my stamping to do list...it's always long but this time of year it just keeps growing! I was able to cross one thing off though...a gift for dd's fourth grade teacher. I was inspired by Christina Fischers candle wrap last week and made a mental note to make my own! This is also for this week's ways to use it challenge on SCS - last minute gifts! It seems all my gifts this year are last minute gifts!!!

I stamped the images with brown craft and heat embossed with clear powder. I then colored with my markers and added some white gel pen highlights. The flake was inspired by the ones that Anna Wight has been making this year. Her photography is much better than mine in catching the sparkle! Now I know why I saved these ornaments for the past few years!!!

Here is a close up of the flake...

I simply rubbed the flake on my chocolate chip ink pad and then sponged the areas I couldn't quite get at with the pad. I covered it with diamond dust glitter, I then cut a sizzix flake from shimmer paper and covered that in the glitter as well. After punching another shaped flake from kraft paper, I covered that with glitter and then added a button with wire running through the holes. I replaced the gold cord with twine.

A quick inexpensive wrap to dress up a candle!!
Thanks for stopping by...
See you soon...

That SNOWFLAKE is absolutely GORGEOUS!! I've seen so many snowflakes lately...real ones, punched ones, chunk board ones, and THIS ONE--it's Fabulous. What a great little gift. Happy Holidays and hope you have a very Merry Christmas! =)
