Candy Anyone?

Well, believe it or not, it is that time of year again...or close to it anyway. Graduation, end of school time!! So...I have some candy to give away in honor of this special time of year.

Your package will include clear letter bubble stickers, dimensional stickers, some metal plaques, a good luck stamp and....an Ellison diploma die!

So...as usual I or DDs' will pick a random number and that comment will be the lucky winner. All you have to do is tell me your favorite teacher and why...if you don't have one - that's ok - just leave any old comment (assuming it's a nice one ;-) ). I'll go first...my favorite teacher was my HS Spanish teacher...she loved to have fun, made the class alot of fun...took us on "Spanish" field trips to NYC where we did everything but Spanish related things!!! No wonder I got straight A's (in that class) three years in a row!!!! Learning IS fun!!! ;-)

ETA: We will pick a number Saturday evening (4/28) around 8p...I'll post the winner shortly after that!

Moving along to today's cards...in honor of the month of June! A new image from DRS - isn't it cute?!

This first one was done with combo#2 of last weeks color challenge and today's technique challenge to put a little tag on the card...kind of like the tag on jeans...http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=242692

I love these colors together. The focal point and bottom border are stamped on watercolor paper and water colored. This sketch is just like my ladybug one from the other day. I used my swirl embossing folder and added square (or diamond!) brads in place of the eyelets. The focal point and tag are popped.

For this one I used up some scraps of patterned paper...
I decided it might be neat to, instead of coloring the main image, fill it in with patterned paper. So, stamped my image on white, then I stamped it on my pp scrap and cut out just the flowers...adhered that piece to my white and then colored the remaining spaces. I colored the lady bug then stamped it again on white, colored that, cut it out and then popped it with half a pop dot! Hard to see in the photo, I know. I adhered two scallop punches together for my mat and since it is the same color as the piece behind it, I used my white gel pen to make an outline, following the ins and outs of the scallop punch.

I added some buttons that I ran thread through and knotted...they are adhered with glue dots and are flush to the flowers. I also added some ribbon to the break between papers...the focal point is popped. I doodled some dots in the corners with my white gel pen as a finishing touch.

Gotta run...dance and soccer night!!!

Good luck and see you soon!

First of all, I like your two flower cards. My pick of the two is the red one, and I love the lady bug. Aren't they cute? One of favorite teachers was Miss Rouke for second grade. By the time I had her for a teacher, I had decided to be a teacher. When I invited her to a Brownie Tea, she went as my guest which delighted me. We invited her to our home for dinner, she came and enjoyed the meal with us. Yes, I became a teacher, was named the 1976 Indiana Teacher of the Year, and taught first graders for thirty years. First graders are the greatest!!! I loved going to school and I have many favorite teachers, from elementary school through graduate school.

My favorite teacher was my college english professor. She was so much fun that you couldn't believe you were actually learning stuff and you always wanted to go to class. I took as many english courses as I could with her and she retired right after I graduated.

Hmmmmm...my favorite teacher...wow...there were so many memoriable ones. I would have to say, my favorite teacher would be my Dad. He was always there for me. He'd teach me as he helped me do the dishes or when I'd hold the flashlight for him as he worked on the car. My dad taught me how important an education was. So I valued most of my teachers. Like the above poster, I became a teacher too!

I love your June cards. I had the meanest grade school teachers that you can imagine in the small school I went to! Every one of them except my 6th grade teacher scared me to death. But I learned a lot (I was afraid NOT to) It was just the opposite in high school. They were all so nice that I loved them all.

This is sad but I can't think of any one teacher who stood out as my favorite. It wasn't until I went to college for a HCA that I had a teacher who stood out and she gave me the encouragement & support to strive for the best I could do. I ended up walking away from her class with a 98% average. Now if I had only have done that in high school. lol.

My favorite teacher was Mrs. Mann--a high school English teacher, I had her for two years and she was wonderful. We used tohave the most amazing discussions about the books we had to read. Like "Catcher in the Rye" and "1984". One of the only times in High school that the teacher would actuallylisten and be impressed(or so i thought) with the students thoughts and interpretations. LOved ya, Mrs. Mann

My favorite teacher was one of my engineering professors in college. He was from India, and although almost all of my professors were sexist, he supported me and gave me the confidence I needed. Oh, and he gave me a scholorship too! thanks!

Hands down, my favorite teacher was Coach Carlisle. He was the HS boys basketball coach and he taught Personal Finance and Record Keeping on the side. I took these electives just to be in his class, not for the class itself. He was so laid back, easy to talk to, funny and very easy on the eyes!! He would play his favorite music while we did our work (Eagles, Don Henley and Jackson Browne) and so everytime I hear New York Minute by Don Henley, I think of him. He would always eat an orange while we did our work and the whole class smelt like oranges. My sister had a mad crush on him and she had to be in his class the following year. Sad part of this story is he died about 2 years ago after a basketball game. He is deeply missed by everyone who knew him. I will forever remember him.

Mr. Forrest Stith, my 9th grade history teacher. He was an OLD gentleman then (in the mid 1970s) and his father was an actual slave in the south. The stories, memorabilia and book he wrote made a huge impression on me. He was so sweet

Love the cards! My favorite teacher was Mrs. Gish, Home Ec. She always stressed that it wasn't the cost, time or trouble someone put into a gift/meal/occasion but the love and care instead. That has influenced my life and I have tried to pass that on to my girls as well. You have inspired me to make a card for her to let her know just how much that lesson meant to me. Thank you for the inspiration!
