And now back to cards and the real world! Today is Wednesday, sketch challenge day over at SCS: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=253083 and here are my submissions!
(Oh, I should mention that I rec'd a whole bunch of new DRS Designs stamps today to play with....fun, fun, fun! Some masculine, some patriotic, some military...so stay tuned in the coming weeks for lots of new designs...also be sure to check out their link here: www.drsdesigns.com and/or on the right...for other great designs!!)
Ok, here we go...
First a masculine card:
I stamped the deer in chocolate chip and distressed all the mats...I stamped with my plaid stamp in green on the green panel and stamped the very versatile leaf image in chocolate chip on the brown panel. The sentiment is on the craft panel...the image is popped as the hemp makes it a little bumpy and hard to adhere flat! I need something to fill in the blank space on the edge so I wrapped a circle punch around it and added a brad. I'm pretty pleased but boy did I have a hard time getting a good photo of this one!
Next is a patriotic card...
I wasn't too sure about this one at first - it's a little bright! The more I look at it though it is growing on me...I stamped the stars background in red on the white and red pieces and in blue on the blue panel although that is hard to see...I also embossed the blue with my embossing folder. I stamped the sentiment in black craft and heat embossed with clear powder. I added some star brads I found at Target (office supply section). I cut the ends of the strips with my wavy scissors. I added a skinny photo corner on the upper left for filler! I varied the sketch just a little but I think with this combo of colors and the brightness that I needed it to soften the hard edges a little.
Don't forget the blog candy number pulling is a little over 24 hours away...if you haven't entered be sure too...if you already have...tell a friend!!!! I've rec'd lots of great ideas so far but I know there are more!!!!
See you soon...
