Goin' Coastal...

Later this week we are heading to Cape Cod to spend some time with dh's parents - they have a house there...I thought I would bring this as a gift for having us...my intention is to take a pic of each dd at the beach, have dh's dad print it out in black and white and insert into the frame! (click for a closer view)

I found the black frame at the grocery store. I selected my papers and then traced around the frame for the approx. size and cut the paper. I applied some modgepodge and stuck my papers down. Once it was dry I sanded the edges with fine sandpaper and then rubbed on some close to cocoa ink with a cotton ball. The modgepodge dries quickly, so soon after that I applied modgepodge to the entire top surface of the frame. I then tied on my ribbons. DDs' bathroom has a sea motif and in the shower (years ago) I hung a fishing net with some shells and a rubber lobster in it...kind of cute actually although now I think we are all getting tired of it!! Anyway, I took a chunck out of some of the extra bulk and adhered it to my frame with crystal effects. I found a package of shells at Michaels and adhered those with crystal effects as well. The sentiment is a 3-D sticker from a K & Co. pack I found at our local dollar store.

DD likes it so I guess it came out pretty good - pretty much what I had envisioned so thats always a bonus!! Now I just have to hope that the photo session goes just as well!!

Hope you had a great weekend...see you soon...
