Something Different Thursday!

Today I have something a little bit different for you...and then something that is the same as usual! The ways to use it challenge on SCS today was to alter a journal/notebook. It was just the push I needed to finally alter this journal that I found at Michaels some time ago... (click on photos for closer views)

I found it in the $1 section - as you can see I bought more than one!!! How unusual for me!!! Anyway...as soon as I saw it I knew I had to sew the design...so that is what I did. This is an altered journal sans paper and stamps, etc... I sewed the design with back stitches and attached ribbon on the side. The metal corner is by Making Memories and the charm hanging from the bow is from Oriental Trading Co and says "live". I added a jewel brad to the flower center. The front and back covers are a stiff felt material. I just wish the color of the felt was a little easier to coordinate. I'm pretty pleased with how it came out...I think I might use it as my "to do" book once school starts back up again.

I also have a card to share with you...I was inspired by a card I saw in an email from Impress, that I received today...I believe they used punches for their star wreath but as soon as I saw it I knew I had to duplicate with my DRS Designs, star wreath!

Since I still had my Verdigris embossing powder out I figured I would try it on this wreath. I added some SU! copper cord that wraps around the top of the card. I stamped the sentiment in black. The card is made with Bazzill white textured paper. Easy Peasy!!

This is not the card I had planned to make today...gonna try to do that now...if I do, I'll be back!! If not, see you tomorrow!!!

Love the stitched flower on the altered journal, the card with the star wreath is great, really like the simplicity of it
