Here is an extreme close up!
This was a fun project...I purchased the "blank" skirt at our local $1 store...it sat in my closet for a year! I had an idea what I wanted to do with it but at the time didn't need another skirt...so when we found an inexpensive tree for the girls playroom I knew just what I had to do!! I dug out the skirt and since I have oodles and oodles of felt laying around, I just grabbed my sizzix dies and cut away. Once all the pieces were pinned to the skirt, I back-stitched around the outside of the gingerbread men, then I stem stitched their mouths and then sewed on black beads for their eyes and white sequins for their "icing". The white hearts, holly, berries and the gingerbread mens hearts are secured by just the sequins and beads (another thing I seem to have a stockpile of from other assorted kits that I actually purchased! See, saving things does come in handy - sometimes!)...this was alot less work than sewing everything to the skirt and then adding the sequins!! Once all the felt pieces were on I raided dds' sequin bucket (which is completely separate from my stash of "stuff"!) and found a bunch of silver star flowers and attached each of those randomly with a clear seed bead.
I'm so excited that it is finally complete. I love projects like this. I hope the girls like it! It feels good to actually put supplies from my closet stash to good use!
Well, I think we're finally caught up on decorating and now that this project is complete I'm hoping to get the Xmas cards signed and addressed and ready to go by the end of the week. Only 13 days left!!!! Yikes!
The color challenge on SCS for the week keeps calling my name...real red, caribbean blue and whisper white...hmmnnn, wonder what I can do with that...I'll have to try to squeeze something in later today...don't ya think??
See you soon...
