Here are the coasters I promised...these are for my brother and his wife...they love lighthouses and the beach so I thought these would be an appropriate "thanks for having us over" gift!
The images are stamped on Bottochino tiles from Home Depot. They are actually two images from Great Impressions Stamps. The lighthouse is part of a bigger image that I had to cover with masking tape prior to inking with my black staz-on ink. Once the stamp was inked, I removed the tape and stamped the image on the tile. I then made a small mask of the lower portion of the house and stamped the cliff...this was tricky because if I didn't line it up correctly the house would look like it was in danger of falling off the cliff! Once everything was stamped, I colored with my embossing pen and chalks...I then baked the tiles for 20 min in 350 degree oven. After the tiles cooled, I sprayed two light coats of sealer on each. I found some self-stick foam feet at my local dollar store and adhered those to the bottom so they wouldn't scratch whatever surface they put them on. I was going to use my cork sheets on these and the iris coasters I did, but thought that would be too costly and the store I purchased my cork sheets at is no longer in business...I tend to hoard and the thought of using up all my precious cork on this kind of project didn't sit too well with me!!
Thanks for stopping by...I hope you have a wonderful News Years Eve and best wishes for a Happy New Year...not sure I will make it back before Tuesday...but either way...I'll see you soon!
