The baby gift...

is done!! After some trials and errors yesterday I'm pretty happy with the outcome so I felt I could share! ;-)

Before:

I found these in the Target $2.50 spot when they had some baby items this past month...they came in a pack of three...these have some paper remnants left on them from yesterdays trial run...I'll save these to alter another time...I guess I may need to paint these but that is for when I have more time!

After:

As you can see I tried to get different angles so you could see all the sides...basically what I did was...I did not paint the blocks, I just adhered, with modpodge, some patterned paper to each side...I left one side the way it was and that became the bottom.

After I adhered the paper, I spray sealed each block. I was at my local dollar store yesterday and they had a small pack of K & Co. baby stickers - they were perfect for this! Those are the stickers you see with the glitter...I used my sizzix lollipop alpha for the initials and my cuttlebug scalloped squares and circles for the "mats". They were adhered with two sided sticky tape.

The photo of the baby is from the announcement we rec'd in the mail - I square punched his tiny head out - DD thought it was creepy but hey, it worked!! I found some of those cool clips I've seen everyone using lately and slipped that onto the corner of the photo to dress it up. I added some heart buttons for the sides that did not have stickers. I wanted to keep the top relatively flat so that if she wanted to stack the blocks she could without them falling over so I used my Michaels clear $1 stamps and stamped them in light blue chalk ink...I highlighted the inside of the stars, etc with my Stardust pen.

So, there you have it...finally a non card project!! This gift is for DH's cousin who just had her first child -- I hope they like it! They live far enough way though so if they don't, I'll never know!!! ;-)

Today was the ways to use it challenge over on SCS - to use punches to "make something", like a flower, etc... sounds like fun and something I've only done once, maybe twice...it's on my to do list for tomorrow!!!

See you soon...
