it was a tough one for me!!! But here are two tries...
All images are by DRS Designs - link on right...
This first one is made using two stamps...first I stamped the stained glass stamp and then the butterfly...both in black craft and then heat embossed with clear powder. Before doing that I brayed brocade blue on my white panel...this was a little difficult since my brocade blue is a spot and not a full pad!! It was a random pattern to say the least but with the glass stamp on top, you can't really tell!
I used my swirl embossing folder for the top portion and outlined the swirls with my stardust pen and then faux stitched around the rust panel with the same pen. Since the lower right butterfly came out a little lighter than I had hoped I decided to stamp the butterfly again on vellum with black stazon, cut it out and mount as a 3-d piece on the card front. Now my light butterfly looks like a shadow!!! I colored on the back side of the vellum with a yellow sharpie. Overall, I like the card...just not too sure about the colors!! I guess that is why they call it a challenge!!
Next up I decided to go simple!
The main blue panel is embossed with the swirl folder, as well as the yellow scallop. I stamped the butterfly in brocade blue on SU! shimmer paper, cut it out and mounted it on a pop dot. The rust piece peeking out behind the yellow is a scallop square turned like a diamond...I attached my ribbon to the piece with the gold brads. I pierced all along the top and bottom of the focal point and at the top of the card. The card top and the piercings on the scallop are outlined with my white gel pen.
After all that, it still looked a little plain so I added three jewels in the center of the butterfly and then I was happy. Piercings and jewels...I was in my happy place!!!
Guess what??! My blog has received over 15k hits!!!!! Yeah - thanks everyone!! Now I'm a little behind - I guess I thought I had a day or two soooo, I will be posting a blog candy giveaway in the next couple of days (have to get my act together!) so be sure to check back...
Oh, and guess what else??! IT IS FINALLY SPRING!!!!! Now we just need to get rid of all the snow we received last week!!!
See you soon...
