Frayed at the edges!

No, not me...just my ribbon! Today's Technique Challenge on SCS, found here:
was to use frayed ribbon on your project!

Here is mine...only one for today!!

All images are by DRS Designs - find their link on the right!

I chose to go simple with the design today since, to me, the frayed ribbon can make the card look a tad busy. I looked through the SU! IB & C for an idea for my color combo and the overall sketch and tweaked it to my liking. The sentiment is stamped in brocade blue...the card edger stamp was stamped in the same color. Isn't that a cool stamp?! Two stamps in one actually! I can't wait to play with it more. I used my "doodle" flowers that you have been seeing me use quite a bit lately...I stamped one on my focal point and the other on a burgundy piece...heat embossed it and cut it out. The frayed ribbon is green grosgrain from Walmart...per the instructions on SCS - I cut the edge/seam of the ribbon off on both sides/both ends. I left about half an inch in the middle so that it wouldn't unravel completely and so that I would have a place to adhere my brad. Once the seams are cut you just pull the pieces apart, discard those short pieces that fall out of the middle and voila! I used mine as leaves for my flower.

Can you believe it?! No jewels, no popping and no piercing anywhere on this card!! What has come over me?! Tomorrow is the color challenge...we'll see what that brings!

I went to Target tonight and found a bunch of stuff on clearance in the scrapping aisle...I wonder what, if anything new they are bringing in...we shall see. I found a bunch of stuff to alter...someday. They had paper on clearance, some Ellison dies, embellishments, clear stamps and some of the Prima merchandise (not the flowers) were on sale too! If I don't start altering stuff I'm not going to get into the closet I put everything in!! So, stay tuned...in the future, you will see some non card projects from me! I have to do something with all this patterned paper I've been stockpiling!!

See you soon...
