Birthdays and Mom...

Today was the sketch challenge over on SCS...http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=243223

and here is mine...

not too thrilled with it (I think it actually looks better in person than in the photo!)...maybe it's the colors, maybe the image is too big for the card size...I have another idea floatin' around in my noggin so I think I will try that tomorrow... All images are by DRS Designs...I stamped their polka dot background on the turquoise panel with versamark and then embossed with clear powder. The patterned paper is a scrap...I'm trying to actually use my patterned paper!! Since the main panel was so large I decided to add a scalloped edge on the bottom courtesy of my SU! slit punch...I pierced around the outside of the main image and used my watercolor brush and tempting turquoise to highlight happy birthday...dare I say it took me a couple of minutes to actually find the words!! I'm a dork!! Since it's more of a kid like image, I figured I would make it more of a kid like card...hence the pencil! If you have a word find, you need something to find the words with, right? I rummaged around in the garage until I found a discarded golf pencil (note to self: the next time we play mini-golf, stash a handful in pocket!!) Unfortunately the pencil was dark green and had the golf course name on it...well, the only way I could find around that was to sand the paint and writing right off! Now it goes with anything!!! I ran a snippet of ribbon through the piece attached to the card to keep it on. I added some doodles around the outside with my white gel pen.
What do you think?
Next up is a Mom's Day card with one of my new 2007 DRS images...

This card was inspired by Jenn Balcers blog...http://jbalcer.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/ these colors are great together...the green panel is popped, as well as the focal point. I stamped the swirl in certainly celery and then outlined it with my glue pen and added dazzling diamonds. The oval was cut with my CM cutting system and I used the Giga oval scallop punch. I added some ribbon...it is bothering me that the one side won't stay where I put it! Ugh!! I pierced the top, scallop rounded (CM) the corners at the top to make it more my own design than Jenn's...I feel weird doing an EXACT case! Thanks again Jenn for the inspiration!

Thanks for visiting...be sure to tell your friends about the blog candy!!!

A big thanks to Dawn Mercedes...for helping me attach my sticky!! You can find her blog here:
