Cards and pages...

It's Wednesday...sketch challenge day at SCS:

and a dreary one at that! It has been cloudy all week here and today very rainy...my original plan was to make a "pretty" card but decided I needed something more cheery...I love this set even though I don't use it very often...it is a retired SU! set, Crayon Cuties!
(Note: some of these pictures can be viewed closer if you click on them...don't know how I did it but it is working on a few of them!!!!)

I used my flower embossing folder on the blue base and my swirls on the light blue which is actually patterned paper with a cloud look to it. The rest is pretty straight forward as you can see...the focal point is raised on leftover stamp rubber...the sentiment is from DRS Designs.

Last week while at Target I found this sizzix sizzlit die (although it's not called a sizzlit for some reason!?) The white is embossed with the swirl folder and the patterned paper is from Target.

Another straight forward one...the heart is popped and then the entire focal point is popped again...I'm thinking maybe I should have stamped "love" in the center of the heart...I added some jewels and some faux stitching with my stardust pen although it is hard to see it...not sure about this one!!

As promised, following are some of the scrapbook pages I have been working on. My apologies on the poor photographs...I don't usually post my pages so I'm not very good at taking pictures of things bigger than cards!!

This is my grandpa as a child in New York City...The journal piece is a cuttlebug slider. I tried to keep the pages simple due to the nature of the book...

My grandpa served in the Navy in France during the First World War...it is amazing how many pictures he and then my mom saved!

This is the ship he served on...This picture was actually on a hard piece of something, I 'm not sure what - alot of the pictures those days were mounted on hard backgrounds...my mom took the photo to be reproduced and it came out beautifully.
These are miscellaneous pictures from just before he enlisted until he actually left for overseas...I found some K&Co stickers at the dollar store that were perfect for this page/book. There is even one at the bottom that is supposed to be a postage stamp of Connecticut and the Charter Oak...appropriate because my grandpa lived in New Britain, CT
As I mentioned there are so many pictures that were saved...this page consists of at least 30 small (baseball card size) photos that I am guessing my grandpa took...he is not in any of them but he wrote on the back of most of them. Since I didn't want to lose that piece of history, I slipped all the photos into baseball card sleeves and attached them to page with large brads and "prettied" the top up so it doesn't look like a baseball card holder!

The pages flip up to view the pages underneath.

The pictures were the same way only bigger so...I took some photo sleeves, cut them into individual sleeves and layed them on top of each other, prettied up the tops and there you have it!! All of these photos can be raised the see the ones below as well. Another dollar store find were the metal tags...perfect!!!

This page was done in the same manner. The book on the bottom is in a bigger sleeve that was sealed on three sides...I placed so the opening is at the top and the book can be removed to look at it...

I have other pages but wasn't sure about the interest in things like this...if anyone is interested, leave a comment and I will post more!

I have a long way to go but I am enjoying it much more than I ever expected!!!

Thanks for visiting and staying with me...if you made it this far!!!

See you soon...

I love these album pages! You've done a great job of keeping the focus on the pictures but really gorgeous embellishments. To me these pages are what scrapbooking is all about - preserving memories for future generations in a beautiful presention. Thanks for sharing this treasure!
