Roughing it!

That is what I have been doing for the past couple of days...couldn't post because our power was out! Yuck! A wicked storm/tornado came through late Wednesday afternoon and zapped the power right away...we're lucky we got power late last night but alot in town are still out!
So, by candlelight Wednesday night I made this card!

This is another card from this weeks sketch challenge...I used the DRS Designs father sentiment...the kraft background is embossed with one of my new Cuttlebug folders...I cotton balled some close to cocoa ink on it and the stars and around the outside of the card. I also pierced and faux stitched around the outside. The stars are cut with my sizzix die. I added some eyelets and ran some hemp through them. A simple card, but I like it!!

ETA:
I just realized that I never posted on Wednesday - here is my first card from this weeks color challenge...http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=249383

All images are by DRS Designs...I wanted to keep the card simple and spied a card from JulieHRR on SCS (in the fan club gallery) where she used white on white so I figured I would try it with this sketch...this flower stamp comes with a large and small flower so I stamped both in different colors and adhered one on the other...the leaves are the flower stamped in green and then cut out. I added polka dots to both flowers in rose red and after adhering them to the square, I doodled my own frame. I added a jewel to the flower center for good measure!

I don't know how you readers in the mid-west/tornado prone areas do it! Here in the Northeast tornadoes are rare...there are trees on houses, across roads, you name it, they are everywhere and they are huge!!! Luckily we didn't suffer any damage. The kids have been out of school the past two days and I feel like my personal power!! is out!!! Trying to keep them busy and clean with no water is no easy feat!!!

But, hopefully we're back on track or getting there anyway! I don't have anything else to post today but hopefully in the next couple of days I will. I still have new toys waiting for me to play with them AND I just rec'd the rest of my SU! marker set today! Yeah!!!! Now I have all the colors in a form of ink, if not actual pads! I have recently found out how fun it is to scribble on a transparency sheet, add water and voila - color an image with the exact color that I need!!

I hope all is well in your neck of the woods and that you had a good week...

See you soon...

I love that second card - particularly the embossed layer over the plain one... that is a GREAT look! Good job!!

I love this layout but haven't had time to do it yet. I LOVE your star card. I love stars. But both are great. School is almost out and then I can craft my summer away!

Have a wonderful day and sorry about the weather. Luckily it was just the power. Several members of my family live in Greensburg and lost everything!! Yikes.

I love your white on white card. It looks so stunning with the C.B. embossed paper. Love that punch of red. You are such a good card artist.
