Colorful Tuesday...

it was a dreary day here in the Northeast...we received some much needed rain but it made for a sleepy day! The color challenge over on SCS was a little different today...I wasn't sure at first but it turns out if you get just the right balance of colors, it's not too bad!!! ( I don't have pomegranate so I used the closest paper I had to rose red)

Here is my first...wagon image is by GinaK
(click on photo for a closer view)

The two background pieces are stamped with SU! linen in chocolate chip...I roughed up the edges with my scissors. The focal point is also stamped in chocolate chip and colored with the color challenge markers. I faux stitched and folded the top back over a shortened wooden skewer (you don't want to know what other unusual things I gather for possible use later and keep in my studio ;-) (LOL) ) and secured it with pewter brads. I found the skewers in the tools/gadget section of the grocery store and cut it easily with scissors. I also attached a brad in the center of the wheel. I found a lonely teal blue prima and attached that with a very tiny silver brad. The focal point is raised on pop dots. I stamped the GinaK sentiment on the side, also in chocolate chip. This will be my mom's birthday card - now I just need to remember to give it to her in November!!!

Next is a new image by DRS Designs...

I decided to make a tag flap card (very technical name!!) that was inspired by cards that Mytime and AmyR recently posted on their blogs. I colored my image with markers, outlined the shadows on the letters with my stardust pen, added a pom pom for his hat and some ribbon (secured with a tiny brad) for his scarf. Oh, and I can't forget some dazzling diamonds on his hat fluff! The entire focal point is secured with silver brads and I added a jewel to the flake brad on the tab. The bottom border of bells is another new image from DRS - it is a border stamp that has another image on the other side - two stamps in one!!! How cool is that! (These border stamps also work well with their plaid stamps).

In case you are wondering how I was able to get the slit so high onto the bottom flap of the card - that punch doesn't have a very long reach - it would be nice if they made it a long reach punch IMO! Anywho...I made my card base and then cut my red and black layers and THEN I used my slit punch before adhering the red/black piece to the white card base.

Love your bluebird card!! Great idea adding the ribbon and pompom! And yes, too funny that we used the same image today. Must have been something in the New England air. :)

Love how you placed in image "askew" on your first card, and your Christmas bluebird is fantastic.
