A "Gel-ly" Fish!

Hi there - hope you had a good weekend! Today's Try a New Technique Challenge over on SCS was Gel Cards. This was a new one for me so I decided to give it a try!

Here is my squishy fishy!! All images by DRS Designs. (click on photo for a closer view)

I used my CM oval cutter to cut out both ovals...my image is stamped in black and colored with markers. For my blue layer, I knew I wanted to emboss with swirls (ie: water!) and I also wanted to heat emboss dots (ie: bubbles)...the only way to do that effectively was to flip my layer over so that the embossing was indented so to speak...this gave me a flatter surface to stamp on with versamark and then heat emboss with clear powder. After coloring my image, I stamped off my dots in bliss blue and gable green on the white - although it might be hard to see in the photo. Once all the layers were adhered I began my hunt for gel!! All the hair gel we have is tinted so in my search I was able to find some anti-itch gel that was clear! I plopped a bunch in my baggie and then added a sprinkle of dazzling diamonds and "mixed" it the best I could! I then adhered my baggie to the back of my top layers with two-sided tape and then adhered that combo to my image and card front. The whole ensemble is attached to the card itself with eyelets. I ran some SU! silver cord through my side eyelets and after stamping Hello in blue stazon on the tag, I attached it to the cord with white organdy ribbon. I used crystal effects to adhere the shells to the tag.

I'm hoping to return later today with another post...we'll see what happens!!!
Hope your week is off to a great start!
See you soon...
