The Usual and a Tool Review!

It's Wednesday...sketch challenge day! Can you believe we are on #146?

Here are my submissions for today...all images on the first two are by DRS Designs. Click on photos for closer views.

This one is pretty straight forward...image is colored with markers and raised on pop dots. I doodled a frame around the image. The center layer is embossed with my traffic jam embossing folder. The "brads" are actually hole punches from a regular office supply hole punch. The ribbon is from Michaels, Halloween section.



Isn't he cute? Mr Candy Corn and the sentiment are both new image releases.

I got a little creative on this one! I love this image! I decided that I would go out on a limb (LOL) - I told I was a dork!!! and add a stick that the marshmallows could be stuck on...and it worked! I used a regular office supply hole punch on either end of the image and ran my stick through...taping it on the back. I added some ribbon to cover up the holes. The focal image is raised on pop dots. I used my swirls folder for the middle layer. A relatively simple card...just not one you can mail easily! It was fun though.

Another simple one...I colored Jack with markers and raised the focal point on pop dots. The middle layer is stamped with white stazon using the skull/cross bones images from the CC Designs Halloween set. The sentiment is made with my Dymo Label Maker. I did alot of distressing on this one. I used to do my distressing with the edges of my scissors...worked ok on my paper but I'm sure it wasn't so good for my scissors!!! When Christine sent me a Heidi Swapp distressing tool, I just HAD to try it out!!! It is a little gem...that looks a little like a pink pac-man!!!



There is a little bit of a learning curve in order to get a feel for the tool. It is quite safe as really only paper can fit into that tiny little opening. For card stock I usually just hold the paper rather tightly in the center and then starting in the center, rub my tool across the edge of the paper...I rub away from myself until I have it distressed to my liking (several strokes worth) and then I turn the paper over and distress the other half. For patterned paper you need to go a little easier or it will make a rather large gash and of course tear your paper. (It says you can use it on photos...I haven't tried that yet but I bet it's a cool effect! I'll let you know when I do!) Once you get the hang of it, it is quite useful and a tool I would recommend having. At a little over $1 in price, what have you got to lose!! I would suggest practicing on a scrap paper or two before actually using it on a project so you can get used to your own strength (lol)!!!
